Introduction To The Federation

Founded on March 21, 2018, The Darts Federation of Hong Kong, China is jointly founded by a group of darts enthusiasts and celebrities from the political, business and sports circles. It focuses on the long-term development of local darts with the concept of "Set up · Take back · Release"——

          Set up- Aiming at the healthy, characteristic and international direction, we should establish a positive image of darts;

Take back- Gather the strength of the community, schools, disciplined services, government, business and friendly groups to publicize and promote dart knowledge to all walks of life;

Release- Promote the sport by hosting multiple events and training course, and in line with the others around the world.

The Federation will strive to plan and promote the development of darts, explore and cultivate potential dart athletes, actively contact the local dart industry predecessors, and jointly establish a representative competition mechanism, so as to make darts become a competition event and strive for the Asian Games and the Olympic Games as the Federation's goal.

The president's words

Prof. Herman HU Shao-ming, GBS, JP

Sports can strengthen body, exercise will, cultivate a strong spirit. Darts are also a movement that emphasizes coordination of hands and eyes and control emotions. We hope to let more friends know and participate in the flying mark movement, experience the fun of darts and cultivate healthy attitude of life.
The Hong Kong Darts Federation takes aim, cohesion and promotion as its concept, to promote dart movement. Our goal is to integrate sports into communities and schools, to allow more young people to contact and participate, so as to select potential players, represent Hong Kong to participate in international competitions and improve the level of darts in Hong Kong. In the future, we plan to hold international events to enhance our image and encourage interaction and exchange, and finally make dart sport "throw" to the international market!
Therefore, I hope to provide a platform to encourage more exchanges among the flying standard athletes. The association will actively promote the national dart movement, so that dart sports can be more popular and the public can share the fun of darts.

Remarks by the chairman

Dr. IP Ka-wai, Charlie

I am honored to be the Chairman of HKDFA’s Fifth Council.

Darts is a sport that demands focus, hand-eye coordination, mental resilience, and strategic thinking. In recent years, it has developed rapidly in Hong Kong and has become increasingly popular among the public. The Hong Kong Darts Federation has always been committed to promoting darts at both the grassroots and professional levels. Through active collaboration with schools, community organizations, and various institutions, we organize a wide range of competitions and training activities, allowing more people to experience this rewarding sport.

Founded in 2018, HKDFA has been upheld its belief of “Set up · Take Back · Release” and committed to promoting the development of the darts industry. Under the leadership of former chairmen and members, we have launched various programmes such as Soft Darts Experience Charity Programme, and Dartscation Training Camp, and enhanced the darts coaching system by developing a coaching manual, building a team of assistant coaches and offering training courses for junior coaches, laying a solid foundation for the development of the Federation in the future.

Looking ahead, the Federation will continue to promote the popularization and professionalization of darts in Hong Kong. We aim to strengthen international connections, enhance the standards of coaches and referees, and create more high-level competition opportunities for local athletes. We will also work to bring darts into schools, sports centers, social service organizations, and other cultural venues. By identifying and nurturing talented players and offering structured pathways for advancement, we aim to develop assistant coaches and referees—bringing them closer to the world stage of the sport.

Lastly, on behalf of the Hong Kong Darts Federation, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to our Honorary Presidents, esteemed community leaders, and all partner organizations for their unwavering support. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and encouraging more members of the public to participate in and enjoy the sport of darts, as we strive to elevate darts in Hong Kong to new heights.
